The award-winning Co-op is Canberra's premier student address, offering our members unbeatable affordability and a unique community-focused living environment.

Our community comprises a broad range of student residents, from first-year undergraduates to final year PhD candidates. Our residents come from all walks of life, and from cities and towns across Australia and the world. We pride ourselves on being a safe space and have a particular focus on sustainability and activism.

What is the Co-op?

As a housing co-operative based on famed student co-ops in Sydney and overseas, we are completely student-run and appreciate applicants being open to community-based living. As members, we manage the Co-op ourselves, everything from applications to cleaning! Members are expected to spend about 3 hours each week on Co-op-related activities, whether this be market shopping, home decorating, cooking or gardening or any of the other eclectic things we do.

Location and facilities:

We currently manage five apartments in Havelock House – just blocks from The ANU and Canberra Civic Centre. In terms of the available rooms, you will live in a room within a larger apartment. You can choose to have a single bed, desk and desk chair that is provided for you or you can bring your own furniture! The bathroom, showers, kitchen and other living areas are shared within your apartment.

Who can apply?

Unfortunately, this is only available for students who are 18 and older. New residents are chosen based on several factors, as we love to live with a diverse range of people.
