4-bedroom shared house, Elizabeth Crescent

Single room ($150 per week) available from 20th Nov 2019.

- Prefer 6-month to 2-year occupancy, but short-term occupancy (over the Christmas/New Year period, for example) will also be considered.

- Quiet, clean, freshly painted, east-facing room; fully furnished, with single bed; linen provided or BYO.  

- Close to bus stop (one bus to ANU, 15 - 20 minutes), shopping facilities, hospital and health services, AIS, UC, Jamison Plaza, Belconnen Town Centre.  

- Suit post-grad or visiting staff member. Overseas students very welcome. Present occupants include a female Masters candidate in Computing from India and a male Australian science undergraduate. (Past occupants have included Masters and PhD candidates and Post Docs from India, the Peoples Republic of China, Pakistan and Australia. )

- Kitchen has large gas cooktop, electric oven, microwaves, freezer, separate refrigerators and pantry areas, polished timber benches and a range of cooking utensils, appliances and implements.

- Ducted gas heating throughout, complemented with cosy slow combustion wood fire in the living area during winter.

- Guests are responsible for regular appropriate maintenance of their own rooms, laundry, preparation of their own meals and cleaning-up after themselves. The owner, who also shares the house, cleans the bathroom and toilet and vacuums and maintains the common areas of the house. (Please note that this service is offered as a privilege; not an entitlement. There may be occasions, for example, when the owner is absent for several weeks, when general cleaning and maintenance must be shared amongst guest occupants. ) The owner also maintains the garden.

- Utilities (gas, electricity, water&sewerage, NBN, and firewood in winter) are shared pro rata and paid quarterly. The owner provides some consumables without further charge, such as paper towel, toilet paper, hand-washing liquid and dish-washing liquid.

- A bond of three weeks rent is required in advance. (The bond is not lodged, as the arrangement is an Occupancy Agreement based upon trust and due consideration. This has worked well in the past and offers informal flexibility for guests to extend their stay or to leave freely as circumstances require. )
